The Nomad Ops exists for one reason: to build the operational infrastructure that lets businesses grow without founders becoming the bottleneck of their own success.
Early in my career, I worked on a content team with talented people and a disorganized process. We missed deadlines constantly. We repeated the same mistakes every week. Then we got a system — documentation, accountability, a clear workflow — and the same team started outperforming teams with twice the talent. That was the insight that redirected everything.
Systems matter more than talent. Structure is a force multiplier. And most small businesses are running talented teams with no real systems at all.
I have spent the years since then building those systems — for content studios, field service companies, financial services firms, and digital operators. What I found is that the problem is almost always the same: the business works because the founder wills it to work. It falls apart the moment the founder steps back. The fix is not more people. It is infrastructure.
Most businesses that need operational leadership do not need a $150K/year full-time COO. They need someone who can embed, build the systems, train the team, and hand it off. They need the expertise without the overhead.
The fractional model works because it matches the actual need. I go deep into a small number of engagements — two or three at a time — rather than shallow across many. That means you get the same quality of thinking and ownership that a full-time hire would give you, at a fraction of the cost, with a defined exit when the operation is standing on its own.
The Nomad Ops started as a solo practice and is growing into an operations firm. The vision is a team of embedded operators — each one a specialist in a vertical, each one capable of going into a business and building what needs to be built. We are building toward that now.
If you are a strong operator who wants to work fractionally with growing businesses, we want to hear from you.
